It began with a modest teacup, saucer, and bagged peppermint “tea” at Monique’s grandmother’s city housing apartment, moments that made young Monique feel like the fanciest girl in the world while she got lost in the gentle steam as it rose from her cup. This early memory imprinted on her the deep sense of ease and elegance that a simple teatime tradition can bring.

That early sense of ease and elegance later drew her to a different social scene—the world of wine culture, where she explored new flavors and built meaningful friendships. But after a season of this, in an effort to prepare her body for pregnancy, Monique embarked on a path of alcohol abstinence, which she still practices today. She missed the sense of community and sophistication she had cherished.

In 2013, she and her husband created a new tradition, anchoring their time together with a quiet tea moment that reignited her passion. When the world shut down in 2020, Monique immersed herself in the world of tea, intertwining her life as a mother, a former teacher, and her holistic health journey. This brought her back to the beginning, deepening her understanding of tea as a powerful beverage that invites pause, nourishes well-being, and cultivates connection.
